Born and raised in West Virginia, Mike Dale has lived in Asheville, NC for 17 years, and recently moved to Savannah, GA with his wife (artist Heather Knight), son and two dogs.
He and his wife each work out of their home studios on an acre of land east of Savannah, and next to the Intercoastal Waterway.
Mike graduated from West Virginia State University in 2000 with a BA in Art, focusing on graphic design. Directly out of school, Mike became a career graphic designer, gaining more than 17 years of design experience in the marketing, publishing and print industry.
Switchback Design has been in business since the beginning of Mike's graphic design career in 2000, and serves as a creative outlet for freelance work. Switchback specializes in all print design, custom logo work and illustration. Tired of the corporate office world, and a new found love for printmaking, Mike has recently returned to the love of making art by hand .
Good Fortune Press is the result of this newly found love for making.
He started his Etsy shop "Good Fortune Press" in 2011, and also sells his art on One Kings Lane, Scoutmob and Artfinder. His work has garnered attention from coporations such as West Elm and Nike.
I make my art from things that I love…in bicycles, nature, design, culture, patterns and the great outdoors. New images and graphics constantly populate my thoughts. I adore the handmade process and have always been interested in multiples of images in print. The possibilities are endless in the world of printmaking.
